What an attendant will do
- Bathing, toileting, changing and grooming
- Turning, transfers and supported walking
- Meals, hydration and medicine reminders
- Companionship, observation and night watch
What the role does not include
- Give injections or perform wound dressings
- Insert or manage an IV or catheter
- Diagnose, prescribe or change medicines
- Cook or clean for the whole household
If the care plan includes injections, dressings, catheter care or another clinical procedure, arrange a nurse visit separately. Many families use both roles with one written routine.
